Patrick Lannan received formal training in
fine arts at The Art Institute of Boston,
culminating in a Bachelor's Degree in Fine
Arts from the University of California, Los
Angeles. An accomplished Artist since the
late 1970's Patrick's most celebrated works
include detailed pen and ink drawings,
watercolors and acrylics.
These pieces, some of my most current work, are inspired by the Bears, Cowboys, and "Bad Boys" I have encountered since my recent move to California. Masculine, furry, strong subject matters evokes for me the essence of the male gender through these homo-erotic paintings.
In these paintings, the use of earth tones, with strong shadows and contrast, is the epitome of why we gravitate towards men. Sexual, yet there is a romantic side to each one. Whether the viewer sees a fantasy icon, a likeness of a partner or friend, they inspire a longing within all of us.
